An influential man in the music scene and an integral part of festivals, Martin explained how he broke into the industry and of his passion for music. As co-creator of WOMAD, the much acclaimed world music event, he discussed how the idea was formed whilst in a pub with Peter Gabriel. He revealed that the first gig he attended was Led Zeppelin, for just seventy five pence! As for organising Glastonbury, Martin said that he constantly avoided answering his phone, because he's usually inundated with new bands who are keen to play at the legendary festival. For this year's line up, he told us how boss Michael Eavis took some persuasion for The Who to take part. This fascinating interview also heard how he had the idea for Brighton's prestigious Great Escape festival, now in its second year, and the importance of promoting new talent, bringing acts from around the world to this city.
